The photo to the right was created through a cooperative effort of British scientists and Israeli archaeologists. The first time I saw it, I felt a striking familiarity with it.

It wouldn't be true to say that no pictures of Jesus exist. Over the years, artists have drawn thousands of them. However, of those thousands, it is true that not one of them is correct.

No one from Jesus' time ever left a drawing of him, nor did anyone ever even describe what he looked like. And yet, for a couple thousand years we've seen basically the same style in rendering the likeness of Jesus. We see a pale, long-haired, weak looking individual. In the absence of any real evidence, we've been left with the imaginations of artists.

So the question still remains. What did Jesus really look like?

In researching the information for this slide show, I learned that many professors of theology from the great universities around the world will readily tell you that Jesus couldn't have looked anything like the traditional images the artists have rendered out of their imaginations down through history. Cultural history, and the scriptures themselves, must be abandoned if such traditional images are to be believed.

Recently, scientists decided to look into the question of what Jesus really looked like. They sought the answer from an exciting new field called Forensic Anthropology".

Working together, British scientists and Israeli archaeologists used scientific data to create what they feel is the most accurate image of the most famous face in history.
